Printing Press and Cumorah

This is the E. B. Grandin Printing Building on Main Street in Palmyra. This is where the Book of Mormon was first printed. What a process! Each letter had to be set by hand, then printed on the press below. The first printing was 5000 copies. They took 7 months to print, then another 1 1/2 years to bind.

You can see the large sheets (each containing 16 pages) hanging up above the press.

We arrived at the Hill Cumorah site in the evening, just as the sun was setting. Here are Hannah and Chloe at the monument.

Sunset on top of the Hill Cumorah.

Seven months to print, another 18 mos. to bind! (Groan!) I will never complain about the speed of my computer again.
