When we got to the Brooklyn side we ate lunch at Grimaldi's Pizza. It has the reputation for being one of the best pizza places in New York. It had a thin, almost crackery crust. Then slices of Mozzarella randomly thrown on, with crushed-tomato sauce drizzled here and there. Then thick slices of pepperoni. It was baked in a wood-burning brick oven. Yummmmm.
We tried to take the water taxi back to Manhattan, but ended up as extras in a CSI-New York episode. Turns out the whole dock was turned into a tv set for the day and the water taxi was just being used for filming. There the 7 of us were, eating ice cream on the dock, just waiting for the taxi. We probably threw the whole scene and they will have to re-do it. It was kind of cool to watch them film a scene! Just glad we weren't the victims of the crime.
Thank goodness we were finally able to hail a taxi to drive us back. Make that 2 taxis!
