When we got home from Amazing Jakes, we got to meet our new baby chicks. We had placed an order with a few friends in the ward, and they were shipped from a hatchery in Iowa. Shipped! In a box!

We each looked through the catalog and chose a chick. There are a lot of different varieties! It was fun for everyone to choose one that they wanted. Here is what we ended up with:
Chloe--Barred Plymouth Rock (Zebra)
Hannah--Red Star (Trixie)
Matthew--Black Star (Cookie)
Olivia--Red Star (Sugar)
Abby--Silver Laced (Lacey)
Me--Aracauna (Peaches)
Kresten--Frizzele (Napoleon)
and one extra "warming buddy" chick--a White Leghorn (Rosie)

Wow! Did you move out to the country? I've heard chickens are great for the garden as they eat all the bugs. Looks like fun and craziness!
My kids have been DYING to go to Amazing Jakes. Is it worth it?
Hi Stacey! We sort of live in the country. In our area everyone has at least 1 acre and lots of our neighbors have farm animals. But we have subdivisions and stores around us too. For us, it is the best of both worlds (try to read that without humming Hannah Montana).
And Amazing Jakes...it is a lot of fun. And they have a nice variety of food in their buffet. You can buy discount passes at Costco, and if you are going with friends or cousins, you can schedule a weekday party and get a few other benefits that way. It is a great summertime activity because it is indoors. Some of the rides are "kiddie rides" but the laser tag, rock climbing, bumper cars, etc. are fun for older kids too.
